A man in his early thirties, identified as Prakash Wankhede, posing as a doctor, was arrested at GMCH (Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur, on Friday. The man was arrested by Ajni Police on the complaint of a woman towards whom he made sexual advances.
Wankhede, who basically hails from Jalgaon, would pose as a doctor and approach women accompanying patients at the hospital. He would promise to help them and in return would ask for sexual favours. The complainant, whose husband is undergoing treatment for cancer at GMCH, was approached by Wankhede promising her to help her husband. The woman then alerted the hospital staff about the same and lodged a complaint with Ajni Police.
As per reports, last year, Wankhede stole valuables from a patient’s ward. To escape being caught by people, he had even jumped from the first floor of the hospital. Ajni Police, on the basis of the woman’s complaint, has registered a case against Wankhede under sections 354 (A) and 170 of the Indian Penal Code.
