Marathi film producer Atul Tapkir ends life; posts suicide note on Facebook

Marathi film producer Atul Tapkir, who was one of the producers of the 2015 Marathi movie Dhol Taashe, committed suicide on a Sunday at a Pune hotel.

Marathi film producer Atul Tapkir, who was one of the producers of the 2015 Marathi movie Dhol Taashe, committed suicide on Sunday at a Pune hotel by consuming poison. Before taking the drastic step, Atul posted a long suicide note on his Facebook account, in which he accused his wife Priyanka and her family of mental and financial harassment after his film flopped and he suffered losses. Tapkir also wrote that he has been staying away from his house for six months and his wife has denied him access to his children.

Atul had checked into the hotel two days back. After he did not respond, the hotel staff informed the police. When the police broke the room door, they found Atul lying on the bed. Deccan Gymkhana Police have sent the body to Sassoon Hospital for post mortem and are further investigating the case.
