Raj Thackeray-led MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) has threatened to stall the release of Vivek Oberoi starrer biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming that the movie ‘violates the model code of conduct.’
“They are deliberately trying to show that some famous personalities including some celebrities have helped in making this movie. We are against this dirty game that is being played. Everyone has to follow the code of conduct for the elections, however, if the BJP government is crushing the code of conduct under its feet then the MNS will be taking steps to prevent it,” said Amey Khopkar, the president of Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena.
Khopkar, in a joint statement with MNS General secretary Shalini Thackeray, noted that Bollywood lyricists Javed Akhtar and Sameer have publicly claimed that they have not contributed in any way to PM Modi’s biopic.
Khopkar and Thackeray also added in the statement, “These people want to falsely spread a message that noted people from society and known names from the film industry have contributed to the movie on the life of PM Narendra Modi. The MNS Chitrapat Karmachari Sena condems this cheap tactic to promote the film.”
PM Narendra Modi’, directed by Omung Kumar with Vivek Oberoi in the lead, is set for a theatrical release on April 5.
