Union Health Minister Ashwini Choubey was at the receiving end yesterday after he remarked that Congress President Rahul Gandhi was ‘no more than a naali ka keeda (sewer worm) before Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Modi is like a sky while Gandhi is a sewer worm. The BJP leader, while addressing reporters in Bihar, also said that Gandhi suffered from ‘some mental disease like schizophrenia’ and such patients should be admitted to the mental hospital.
Choubey even slammed RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is currently serving jail term in the fodder scam case by saying that he had been ‘cursed by the poor’ and ‘is paying for his own sins.’
Soon after Choubey made headlines, Congress hit back at the BJP and its leader for derogatory remarks. The RJD, too criticised the BJP by saing that it was ‘busy making an event out of the death of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.’
However, in December 2017, a similar incident had taken place when the Congress had suspended its senior leader Mani Shankar Aiyar from the party’s primary membership after Aiyar called Modi ‘neech Aadmi.’
