Huge crowd gathered on streets of Mominpura on Thursday afternoon after 70-year-old Abdul Lateef Ansari, who used to reside behind Hafeez Bakery, succumbed to heart attack on the street. When Nation Next spoke to one of the relatives of the deceased, Ashfaq Patel, he said, “Abdul Lateef Ansari was my uncle. He had suffered a heart attack so we’d asked the cops to let him visit a doctor. The cops however denied permission for the same to my uncle as the area was sealed due to COVID-19 lockdown. As a result, he died on the street.”

Patel added, “That’s why so many people took to streets.” When asked if the deceased showed any COVID-19 symptoms, Patel confirmed, “His body was taken to Mayo hospital for COVID-19 test that turned out to be negative. After the test, his body was again brought back to his home for his last rites.”
