When heavy rains lashed Nagpur on Friday afternoon, around 900 students of K John Public School at Assoli (Bhandara Road) were stranded inside the school till late night. However, despite Friday being a holiday on the occasion of Mahalaxmi, the school still remained functional. Locals and parents of the students came forward and rescued the stranded children on their shoulders through heavy water-clogged roads.

One of the schoolteachers of K John Public School told Nation Next, “Due to floods, our children were held up in school but they were well taken care of with food supplies and support of teachers and village people. Every child was handed to his parents safely. In this regard, police personnel help was also appreciated.”
