Nagpur; Eight high-profile businessmen were booked after Zone V headed by DCP Neelotpal received a tip off regarding gambling inside Oberoi Palace at Ekta Colony, Near Automotive Chowk in Yashodhara Nagar violating all lockdown conditions. The raid took place at 7 pm on Sunday evening.
Immediately, special squad of Zone V comprising API Annekhestre, HC Mangesh Deshmukh, NPC Vinod Sontakke, NPC Mridul Nagre, NPC Chetan Yadav, PC Ashok Dubey, PC Ravindra Raut, PC Yogesh Thatod, PC Sagar Aatram was sent along with panchas to conduct a raid. On entering the community hall and during search in one of the rooms, following eight persons (as per list attached) were found to be gambling inside the community hall that included the owner of the community hall Krutpal Singh Surajpal Singh.
Following property were seized during the raid:
⇒Cash worth Rs 52,910
⇒Nine mobile phones approximately worth Rs 1,70,000
⇒Four cars including a BMW approximately worth Rs 24 Lakhs
Total value of raid is approximately Rs 26.22 lakhs.
When Nation Next spoke to DCP Neelotpal, he said, “Process of registering an offence under Maharashtra Gambling Act and application of Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) is under progress. All the accused are presently apprehended and further legal action is under progress. All the accused are aged between 25 to 40 years of age. They have also been booked under Section 260, 270 of the IPC and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act and Section 41 of CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure).
