A 30-year-old bar waiter, Ghanshyam Madavi, was arrested by Sitabuldi Police on Tuesday (September 11) for assaulting and trying to chop off his colleague’s private parts on Monday (September 10) at Calcutta Bar situated at Maharajh Bagh road in Nagpur.
As per the cops, Madavi, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, on Monday afternoon, had a fight with his colleague Radheshyam Sarate (40), who also works at the same bar as a waiter. During the fight, Madavi lost his cool and attacked Sarate with a blunt object on his neck and also tried to chop off his private parts. Madavi, after assaulting Sarate, fled the spot.
The incident came to light when the bar owner went to open the bar, which was closed due to the occasion of Pola. The bar owner was shocked to see Sarate’s body lying in a pool of blood in the bar’s bathroom. He immediately rushed Sarate to Mayo Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. An offence was thereafter registered against Madavi by PSI Raut at Sitabuldi Police Station.
Speaking to Nation Next, PSI CS Yelkawad said, “Madavi was missing after the incident. We were able to trace him with the help of his cellphone location. Madavi was arrested the following day (day after the incident) by us from his home town in Madhya Pradesh. We have registered a case and booked him under section 307 of the IPC.” Some reports suggest that both the waiters were drunk during the fight. Sitabuldi Police is now trying to ascertain Madavi’s motive behind commiting the crime.
