Nagpur Central Jail prisoners manufacture hundreds of masks for Govt. departments amid Coronavirus…

In a bid to combat Coronavirus, prisoners at Nagpur Central Jail have started manufacturing masks for various government departments across the city. According to a report in Economic Times, “As per jail superintendent Anup Kumre, prisoners working in the jail’s stitching department manufacture hundreds of masks every day and these are supplied to several prisons and government departments in the state.” These masks are being supplied to city’s local court, development department, family courts, social justice department and other government offices.

The jail authorities have taken all necessary precautions on the prison premise against Coronavirus. Prisoners have been provided with antiseptic soaps; all the staff members have been asked to wear masks and use sanitisers often. Separate barracks have been kept ready for any prisoner who is suspected of Coronavirus. Any patient who is suspected might also be taken to Government Medical College. In view of the deadly virus, weekly interaction between the relatives and prisoners has been temporarily called off.
