Nagpur City Police will be organising its first ever marathon with the tagline – Let’s Run For Safe Nagpur – on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 5:30 am. The marathon which will start from Shivaji Stadium, Police Headquarters, Katol Road, Nagpur, is being organised to create awareness among citizens and also to strengthen the relationship between the police and citizens. Over 5,000 fitness enthusiasts from Nagpur city and around are expected to participate in the marathon.
The marathon will be held in four categories – 3 kms, 5kms, 10 kms and 21 kms. The entry fees for 3 kms, 5kms, 10 kms and 21 kms category is Rs 100, Rs 200, Rs 300 and Rs 500 respectively. The route for the marathon is as follows: Police Line Takli → Seminary Hills → Futala Lake → Ambazari Lake → Ramnagar → Ravi Nagar → Futala Lake → Vayusena Nagar → CGO Complex → Gondwana Club → Ramgiri Walkers Street → GPO Square → Ayakar Bhavan → Seminary Hills → Police Line Takli. All the participants at the marathon will be provided with a T-shirt, a cap and snacks. In addition to this, prizes worth Rs 3 lakh will be distributed.
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, the Nagpur city police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham and the DCP’s of different zones of Nagpur (DCP Ranjan Sharma, DCP Deepali Masirkar, DCP Abhinash Kumar, DCP Ishu Sindhu and DCP Ravindra Pardesi) have requested the people to participate in the marathon i huge numbers and run for a ‘safe Nagpur.’ Prominent personalities including the State Director General of Police Satish Mathur are also expected to be present at the Marathon.
Those who wish to register for the Nagpur City Police Marathon 2017 can do so by registering on Saturday at Shivaji Stadium, Police Line Takli Ground, between 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Alternatively, one can also register by visiting the nearest police station.
