Gajanan Rajmane (DCP, Traffic, Nagpur Police), under the guidance of Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr BK Upadhyay and Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kadam, has formed ‘Traffic Crack Teams’ to deal with traffic violators, who jump signals. As part of the teams, traffic cops in civil dress will keep an eye on people jumping signals and will fine them.
It is common knowledge that many people jump signals even when the timers at traffic signals hit zero. Jumping signals can result in accidents and can prove fatal for violators and other commuters. It is to avoid this jumping of signals by traffic violators that the Nagpur Traffic Police have formed ‘Traffic Crack Teams.’
As part of the drive, while Nagpur cops will fine traffic violators around the city, violators, who escape the eyes of the cops, will be fined by taking help from CCTV cameras installed at different signals in the city.
On July 2, Nagpur Police fined 162 traffic violators, who jumped signals in different parts of the city.
