In order to contain the increasing number of murders and property crimes in Nagpur, Police Commissioner Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay has instructed police officials to monitor the movements of criminals and take actions against them under ‘Operation Crackdown 2’.
As part of Operation Crackdown 2, Nagpur Crime Branch on June 11 busted a gambling den at Green Valley Dhaba at Mansar-Wardha highway at outer ring road and arrested 11 men. Cops also seized Rs 31,500 cash, ten mobile phones worth Rs 1.46 lakh, a deck of cards and five four-wheelers worth Rs 25 lakh.
The eleven men have been identified as: Shivram Devaji Bhure (54), Sanjay Ramdasji Borkar (42), Moreshwar Sambhaji Hazare (38), Shekhar Bhaiyyalal Kumbhare (38), Prashant Chandrakant Shahane (36), Madhukar Chintaman Kotrunge (44), Tushar Anil Pande (26), Bhuneshwar Bapu Kamble (36), Minal Singh Jaisingh Thakur (28), Manohar Baban Gavatre (51) and Sandeep Ashok Meshram (36).
A case has been registered at Hingna Police Station against the accused for violation of government order during the outbreak of coronavirus under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and Section 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with Section 4,5 of Gambling Act.
The raid was conducted by Senior PI Ashok Meshram, API KV Chougule, API DM Chandan, PSI PM Mohekar, ASI Nagorao Ingle, ASI Ramesh Umathe, ASI Battulal Pande and others under the supervision of Additional CP (Crime) Nilesh Bharne, DCP (Detection) Gajanan Rajmane and ACP (Crime) Sudhir Nandanwar.
