Nagpur: Due to Government Medical College (GMC) and Mayo Hospital’s close proximity to nearby containment zones and to also facilitate faster screening of people, both hospitals would be provided with COVID-19 testing device – TrueNat. Dr Sagar Pandey, Deputy Superintendent at Mayo Hospital told Nation Next, “The devices would be installed in both hospitals by Thursday evening or latest by Friday.” The same system has been already implemented by GMC in Gondia.

Dr Vijay Doifode at GMC, Gondia told Nation Next, “TrueNat is a battery-operated machine that would be able to test samples of 20 people in eight hours simultaneously. It provides result of each individual within 40 minutes. Moreover, it functions on the same principle as RT-PCR machines used for detecting tuberculosis. It doesn’t require any set-up or laboratories.”
