Maharashtra Wine Merchants Association has approached Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on behalf of liquor shop owners in the city against Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s decision to continue restrictions on the shops despite guidelines from centre and the state government.
Through the plea, the association has requested HC to allow liquor owners to sell alcohol through home delivery. Liquor shops in the city have been shut since the third week on March.
On May 2, MHA had issued revised guidelines, which allowed certain relaxations from the lockdown. According to the guidelines, liquor shops outside containment zones were allowed to operate. NMC Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, however, issued a notification on May 3 that lockdown in the city will continue without any relaxations.
