Nagpur Mahila Club celebrated its 18th Foundation Day in a unique way as it felicitated the brave wives of Army Martyrs at Hotel Legend Inn on July 28. While martyred army man Surendra Deo’s wife Anuradha Deo Phadnis was the chief guest at the function, Lieutenant Colonell Duggal was the guest of honour. Also present during the function were Vilasini Nair (President, Nagpur Mahila Club) and Mrs India beauty pageant winner Amrita Paghadal, who was invited as a special guest. The function had ‘Tricolour’ as its theme.
Army men’s wives who were felicitated included: Kalpana Nakhate, Poornima Tidke and Preetam Kaur. Along with these brave women, members of the Nagpur Mahila Club club were also recognized for their contribution to the club and society. While Dr Dini Menon was awarded with the most ‘Active Personality’ award for the year 2017-18, members Jayanti Shenoy, Rashmi Kanungo, Shubhalaxmi Iyer, Chitra Awasthi and Shanta Khemka were awarded with ‘Vatvruksha Puruskar’ for philanthropy and social work.
The foundation day celebrations of the club were dedicated to India. While Arya Vighnay and Bharti Disawal presented patriotic songs, Ekta Sharma presented a beautiful dance with the theme – Unity in Diversity. Hemlata Mishra spoke about Indian soldiers and they sacrifices they make for the sake of the motherland.
During the function, Secretary of the club Anita Bose gave an overview of the different activities carried out by the club throughout the year. The entire function was hosted by Dr Rupinder Kaur Chatwal.
