Nagpur: Man hammered to death by friend after dispute over food

In a shocking incident, a middle-aged man was hammered to death by his friend after having a small fight over food on Sunday at Lakadganj in Nagpur. While the middle-aged man Lalchand Devidas Mendhe (40) died soon after the attack, another man named Conductor (30) is being treated at a hospital. The police have taken the attacker Vinod Sitaram Mokhe (40, who is a labourer, in custody.

As per the police, on May 16, Mendhe, Conductor and Mokhe were eating food behind Mehta Petrol Pump in Lakadganj. During this time, when Mokhe asked for food, Mendhe and conductor called him a beggar. This apparently enraged Mokhe, who attacked Mendhe and Conductor with a hammer at 2:30 am (May 17) in the night. Mendhe, who was rushed to IGGMCH after the attack, was declared dead by the hospital.

Lakadganj Police have booked Mokhe under sections 302 and 307 of the IPC.
