Nagpur: Men posing as NMC officials dupe 81-year-old man

Nagpur’s Bajaj Nagar police, on Wednesday, booked two unidentified men for posing as Nagpur Municipal Corporation officials and duping an 81-year-old man of Rs 15,000.

As per the police, on Wednesday, the two men (aged 28-40 years) visited the victim Shyamsundar Itawar’s house in Bajaj Nagar. The men told Itawar that they were NMC officials and had come to collect pending water bill and house tax worth Rs 15,000.

Without suspecting anything, Itawar gave the men Rs 15,000. When the victim asked for a receipt, the men said that they will be back with the receipt. When the men did not return, Itawar informed his relative Samir Mohan Itawar (36), who approached the police.

Based on Samir’s complaint, Bajaj Nagar Police have booked the two men under sections 420 and 34 of IPC.
