Nagpur Metro became the greenest and the fastest completed metro station ever in the country. As per The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MahaMetro), Nagpur Metro was completed in a record time of only 27 months since the inception of its project in the year 2015. Maha Metro even held trial runs in the duration of 27 months.
“From the inception stage, 65% of the energy requirement of Nagpur Metro is met from solar panels on the roofs of the metro rail, stations, depot boundary walls, depot shed, etc.14 MW solar power capacity has been installed in the first phase. The energy generated is added to the national grid and the power required is drawn from local sources. Also, procurement of materials and the project management was done on the 5D BIM (Five Dimensional Building Information Modelling) platform,” informed Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director of MMRC, as reported in The Indian Express.
As per the same report, Dixit further said that Maha Metro is planning to build world-class stations. Since there are places of historical importance along the route of the metro route, each station has a unique theme based on its local history and culture in Nagpur.
