Putting all speculations to rest, senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) from Nagpur Anil Deshmukh said that he’d no plans to join the BJP. Rumours in his former constituency Katol and among political circles were rife that the former minister might soon quit the NCP and join BJP. Deshmukh, laughing at the rumours, told Nation Next, “No, I’m not joining the BJP! Nothing of it is true.”

However, Deshmukh dodged when asked about his opinion on the recent influx of politicians in the BJP from other parties despite Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ recent comment of ‘housefull’ in Nagpur. When Nation Next asked the NCP leader about his plans in the upcoming assembly elections, Deshmukh in a light hearted conversation said, “Better I don’t comment on this!”

Former MLA from Katol, Deshmukh has earlier served as the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies Works in the Maharashtra government.
