Nagpur NGO Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation distributed food kits and groceries to people amid the lockdown imposed by the government to combat the spread of Coronavirus. Social worker-cum-politician Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary at the city based NGO, distributed food to more than 300 daily wage earners and homeless people across the city.
Shriwas said, “I feel fortunate that my other fellow workers and I got a chance to feed so many people. Sadly what meets the eye, these homeless people, migrants are the worst affected people. We cannot even imagine the repercussions of this lockdown vis-à-vis these people. It was disheartening for me to see these people sleep empty stomach initially; I could see their plight. Having said that, this lockdown was necessary for us to stay safe.”
He further added, “It’s our responsibility to help the underprivileged when they need us the most. Our volunteers will also be distributing food packets and ration kits at railway stations, shelter homes, slums and even hospitals. I request all my friends to join us and help our citizens in the best possible way.”
