Nagpur’s Nikhil Bodhankar bags Young Engineer of the Year Award in USA

Nikhil Bodhankar, an engineer hailing from Nagpur, recently bagged the Young Engineer of the Year award by National Society of Professional Engineers in USA.

Nikhil Bodhankar, an engineer hailing from Nagpur and son of renowned pediatrician Dr Uday Bodhankar, was recently awarded with the 2018 Young Engineer of the Year award by National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in United States of America.

The award recognizes a young NSPE member who has made outstanding early-career contributions to the engineering profession and the community.  Nikhil is currently the president-elect of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE), Capital District Chapter, and served as its director and vice president from 2009 to 2017.

Nikhil is an associate principal at SMRT Architects and Engineers and leads the company’s electrical engineering department in New York. With more than a decade of experience in specialized scientific research and electrical engineering design, his clients include the GE-Global Research Center, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Global Foundries, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the New York State Office of General Services.

Nikhil currently chairs the NYSSPE Capital District’s Engineering Scholarship Awards and Future Cities Competition committees.  In 2012, he provided pro bono electrical assessments and estimates to Schoharie (NY) County residents affected by Hurricane Sandy. His research in developing a theoretical model for the use of smart textiles to protect US military personnel in combat, ‘Analysis of Heat and Mass Transfer on Porous Medium on Human Skin’ has been presented at the Nunan Research Symposium in New York.
