The anti-narcotics cell of Nagpur Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler and seized 114.136 kgs of ganja and a rented Zoom car (Hyundai Creta – MH14 AG 1308) with a collective worth of Rs 23, 41,360.
The police got a tip off about Ganja being brought in a Zoom rental car by a person named Harshal Naresh Vatkar, a residence of Wardha. The anti-narcotics cell, with the help of the Cyber Cell, tracked down Vatkar and questioned him.
During the questioning, Vatkar revealed that he did not rent the car and that a copy of his license was with a person named Shubham in Wardha. With the help of the Cyber Cell again, the police was able to track his phone number and got some numbers of people Shubham was in touch with. The investigation led the police to a person named Suraj Naresh Kuttarmare (28), a resident of Chandramani Nagar in Nagpur. Suraj had recently shifted to Wardha.
Again, with the help of Suraj’s phone number, the police was able to locate him and his address. The police arrested him and seized the car and the contraband.
While speaking to Nation Next, API Vijay Kasodhan from anti-narcotics cell said, “Suraj and Shubham brought the contraband from Odisha in the rental car. While Suraj is being interrogated, we have launched a search for Shubham.” Suraj has been booked under sections 20 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
