The Detection Squad of Beltarodi Police Station, on Friday, raided the Gurmeet 2000 dhaba at Khapri, Wardha Road in Nagpur. In the raid, which was carried out under the supervision of PSI Sandeep Agarkar, cops booked Bhupinder Singh Manjeet Singh Sasan (27), the owner of the dhaba, for selling and serving liquor illegally to the customers.

During the raid, Sasan was caught selling country liquor to the customers at a premium price. The cops confiscated as many as 21 bottles of country liquor worth Rs 5,000 from the counter of restaurant. Sasan was booked by the police under section 65 (e) of the Bombay Prohibition Act 1949.

It is common knowledge that there are a number of dhabas and resturants on NH6 on Wardha road, wherein owners serve liquor illegally to the customers to earn extra profits. Agarkar, following directives from DCP Nilesh Bharne, has time and time again warned the owners against serving alcohol. Raids have been conducted at several dhabas in the last couple of months. In fact, cops also raided the famous Puransingh Dhaba in the month of April. The police has intensified its efforts to curb the illegal selling of liquor on Wardha Road and is expected to conduct such raids regularly.
