In an endeavour to fight battle against Coronavirus, Central Railways, under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Somesh Kumar and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Shri Krishnath Patil have introduced a facility of vending machines at Nagpur Railway Station to contain the spread of the virus. Nagpur Railway Station as per officials became the first station in the country to come up with the concept of vending machines that would provide face masks and sanitisers to passengers on platforms.
When Nation Next spoke to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Krishnath Patil, he said, “The automatic vending machine that has been ordered from Mumbai will be installed in a day or two at the main station on platform number one at city’s railway station. Passengers can avail 3 Ply face mask for Rs 10 each and a 100 ml bottle of NP-5 sanitiser Rs 50 each. This will also lead to greater source of revenue.”
Assistant Commercial Manager, PRO at Indian Railways SG Rao told Nation Next, “This is the first such contract in Indian Railways; an important passenger facility for rail passengers at the time of Coronavirus. By doing so, the railway company will receive revenue of Rs 12000 each year as a non-fair license renewal.”
