Passengers to get Rs 5 for recycling plastic bottle at Nagpur railway station

Nagpur division of Central Railway would give rupees five to every passenger for crushing plastic bottles in noiseless reverse vending digital machines. Nagpur Municipal Cooperation (NMC) had set up two machines for rupees three lakhs each at Nagpur railway station in a bid to save environment and keep station clean. NMC installed the machines near chief ticket supervisor’s office at platform number 1, 2 and 3, under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of the initiative ‘Swacha Bharat Mission.’

As per a report in The Times of India, senior divisional commercial manager KK Mishra, said, “Users are credited Rs5 on their PayTM and M-Wallet account for every bottle they feed into the machine. The machines have a provision of entering the mobile number of the user, once a bottle is put in the slot. On an average, 200 bottles are being crushed as of now. Post awareness we expect over 700 bottles, which were being collected garbage bins, will be recycled in days to come.”
