Maharashtra government notified Nagpur as a non-red-zone category vis-à-vis COVID-19 from May 22. Till then, Nagpur would come under under red zone. Initially, cities were classified into three zones – Green, Orange and Red. Later, Chief Secretary of Maharashtra Ajoy Mehta stated that cities would either be tagged into red zone or into a non-red zone area. With seven deaths and 374 Corona cases as on May 19, more than 227 have been discharged in Nagpur. With such a development, more relaxations are now being expected by the civic body.
When Nation Next spoke to Dr Nitin Raut, Guardian Minister of Nagpur and Cabinet Minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi, he said, “We’re doing our best to win this COVID-19 war. Our agenda is that Nagpur, Pune Mumbai and other cities of Maharashtra come back to normalcy as soon as possible. We’ll win this war against COVID-19.”
Talking about Nagpur coming out of the red zone, he said, “We must wait for final guidelines from Maharashtra government, which must be out by evening.”
