Nagpur: Two men booked for molesting girl, trying to kill her brother in Ambazari

In a shocking incident, two men molested a 26-year-old girl and later tried to kill her brother in Ambazari in Nagpur on the night of June 7. The men have been identified as Satish Tarachand Channe (30) and Devanand Shravan Sirsat (26).

As per the police, the victim was returning home at around 7:30 pm on her two-wheeler from Campus Square to Ambazari. While on her way, Satish intercepted her and pulled her hair. After the girl objected, Satish abused and slapped her.

The victim then returned home and explained the incident to her brother, following which both of them marched at the spot and confronted the goons. Fumed by the argument, Satish threw a brick at the victims brother and Devanand thrashed him with a bamboo stick. Before the brother could stand up, Satish tried to stone the brother  to death.

Following the victim’s complaint, Ambazari police booked the two men under Sections 307 (offence of attempt to murder), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 294 (Punishment for obscene acts or words in public), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested them.
