Nagpur University (NU) Vice Chancellor Dr Siddharthvinayaka Kane rubbished Pune NGO’s complaint to Chancellor of NU and Governor Vidyasagar Rao and State Department of Higher and Technical Education. Pune NGO had accused Kane of not filing a complaint against Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists for vandalising NU’s property and hence the NGO demanded Kane’s immediate suspension.
ABVP workers on Friday had staged a protest in front of RTMNU’s administrative block complaining about the delay in the declaration of exam results. The activists had come down to meet Kane to discuss the same, after which Kane had asked his registrar to call the activists to his chamber. The activists refused to listen to the registrar, when the latter asked them to come inside. Instead, they started creating ruckus and damaging the property.
Talking to Nation Next, Dr Kane said, “Pune NGO is accusing me of not filing a complaint against the activists but this isn’t true. I’d filed a complaint the very next day of the incident after understanding the entire matter. I had asked the activists to come and meet me in the chamber but they refused and started creating ruckus. Why should I go and meet them outside when they’re supposed to meet me in my chamber? Nagpur University conducts 1200 exams and out of the 1200, only two results were delayed. No university can achieve 100 percent accuracy. The Pune NGO has either filed the complaint on the basis of their imagination or on incomplete information.”
