Nagpur: Wadi Police Inspector booked for raping and threatening woman

Wadi Police, on Wednesday, booked one of their own – Police Inspector Prashant Sureshrao Jadhav (50), for raping a 30-year-old woman and threatening  her of leaking her nude pictures.

As per the police, PI Jadhav, a resident of Defense Quarter no. 1/71/06, promised the victim to marry her and assured her of a job. Over a period of 10 months, from February 2018 to December 2018,  Jadhav raped the woman. When the survivor confronted Jadhav about the job and the marriage, he thrashed her and threatened to leak her nude pictures.

As per reports, initially, Wadi Police didn’t register the woman’s complaint as Jadhav was posted at the same police station. Later, the survivor approached Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr BK Upadhyay, who intervened and assigned the case to Zone I DCP Vivek Masal.

Later, Wadi Police booked Jadhav under sections 376 (2), (a), (n), 323, 506 of the IPC and sections 3, 12 and 5 of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
