Nagpur Metro offered six free rides in both directions – Khapri-Sitabuldi – to its citizens today (on March 8, 2019) as Maha Metro celebrated ‘Abhar Diwas.’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the 13.5 km long stretch of Khapri-Sitabuldi on Thursday evening. As the day coincided with International Women’s Day, special slots were made exclusively available for women so that they could take free rides in the metro from Sitabuldi to Khapri.
The first free ride departed from Sitabuldi at 8 am today. In all, there would be total six rides (in morning and evening). The first train departed from Sitabuldi at 8 am and reached Khapri at 8:41 am. The train from Khapri departed at 8: 45 am and reached Sitabuldi at 9:26 am. The rides would run between 8 am to 12:30 pm, and 3:30 pm to 8pm on Friday.
