Nagpur’s zone 5 police team, under the guidance of zonal DCP Neelotpal, intercepted and seized four ten-wheeler trucks carrying illegally mined sand on Thursday.

Zone 5 team’s action comes after Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on June 15 asked Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr BK Upadhyay to take strict action against people involved in illegal mining and transportation of sand.

On June 18, DCP Neelotpal received a tip-off about four ten-wheeler trucks bringing illegally mined sand to Nagpur from Bhandara. Zone 5 team accordingly arranged for a bandobast on Kamptee Road.

With the help of the bandobast, the police intercepted four trucks: MH 36 AA 6000, MH 36 AA 2628, MH 36 AA 1518 and MH 40 BL 7478. On checking the trucks, cops found illegally mined sand filled in the trucks. Accordingly, the police seized the trucks and arrested the four drivers and four cleaners of the trucks.
