Nagpurians were seen celebrating the spirit of womanhood with gusto as they visited the two-day fest ‘The She Fest,’ which was organized in association with Nation Next as the online media partner, on March 7 and March 8 at Hotel Centre Point in Nagpur.
The fest, which consisted of a fashion and lifestyle exhibition combined with several events dedicated to women, was presented by The Times of India and organsied by city women entrepreneurs Jyoti Kapoor, Monica Bhagwagar, Neeta Singh and Parveen Tuli.
On the first day, a one of kind beauty pageant known as the ‘Cerebral Beauty Pageant’ was organised for women from the age of 18 years to 80 years. The pageant, unlike other beauty pageants, focused on inner beauty and substance of women.
The pageant saw participation from a lot of women, who not only made the show memorable with their presence but also made sure that everybody had a gala time as they answered the questions asked by the judges wittily. The pageant was judged by Vilas Kale, Rina Sinha and Maj. General (Dr) Vibha Dutta and was hosted by Nation Next Assistant Editor Amar Jajoo.
In between the rounds of different category, Tanishq conducted different rounds with brides-to-be to showcase its latest jewelry collection. One particular round wherein the brides-to-be walked in with their fathers left everyone teary-eyed.
Prior to the pageant, Amar Jajoo also conducted an interesting discussion called ‘What Men Want’ with city educationist Dr Yogesh Deshpande.

On the second day, Nation Next Assistant Editor Radhika Dhawad conducted a discussion with DCP Vinita S on the topic ‘Woman cop in male bastion.’ It was an interesting discussion, which gave the viewers an insight into policing. After that, Dr Rajesh Modi along with Dr Riddhi Bahl, Dr Sapna Sharma and Dr Hetal Gandhi conducted a panel discussion focused on woman health.
In the evening, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari visited the fest, as he felicitated four women achievers from different walks of life. Gadkari, like always, won hearts with his heart-to-heart address to the people present. The women, who were felicitated included: Maitreyi Jichkar (Founder, Zero Gravity), Smita Sarode Singalkar (Sociolegal Advocate), Snehal Kashyap (Founder, Ye Zindagi Foundation) and educationist Vrundan Bawankar.
A couple of musicians also released their song ‘Naari Hoon’ in the evening. Both the days, Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) conducted workshops and Multifit organised Zumba sessions at the fest.
