Lung transplant process underway at New Era Hospital

Once again New Era Hospital created a record, this time for being the first in Nagpur to perform a successful lung donation on Friday (September 20, 2019). Through the first ever lung donation for the city and third lung donation of Nagpur zone, the brain-dead donor saved four lives.

Fifty-eight year-old donor Natthuji Akhaduji Wanjari’s wife and children consented to donate the deceased’s lungs, kidney and liver. This first lung retrieval act in the city was also the 57th organ donation in the city. Wanajri was initially admitted to city’s Seven Star Hospital at Jagnade Square from where he was shifted to New Era Hospital after Dr Sandeep Nagmote advised and educated the patient’s relatives on organ donation, for which the family readily agreed.
