Nagpur’s GMCH to lead world’s largest plasma therapy trials

Nagpur’s GMCH (Government Medical College and Hospital) will be a part of world’s largest plasma therapy trials, which will include more than 500 COVID-19 patients in Maharashtra. GMCH, as part of the ‘Platina Trial,’ will conduct plasma therapy trials on 238 patients from 23 hospitals across Maharashtra.

The ‘Platina Trial’ will check for efficacy of plasma therapy to treat critically ill COVID-19 patients. Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Secretary, Medical Education and Drugs Department (MEDD), informed through a tweet on said on Thursday that MEDD’s proposal for world’s largest trial for plasma therapy for severe COVID-19 patients has gotten DGCI nod.
