Nagpur’s SMS Limited to clean Chandigarh’s garbage dump within 18 months in 34 crore

    Nagpur based SMS Limited to clear five lakh metric tonnes of garbage dumped at Dadumajra village in Chandigarh within a span of 18 months. . 

    In the 11th meeting of Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL), the directors of CSCL sanctioned the mining of legacy waste to the lowest bidder – SMS Limited – of Nagpur at a cost of Rs 34 crore, against the estimated cost of Rs 40 crore.

    The meeting was held on Wednesday (September 18, 2019) and led by Manoj Kumar Parida (Chairman, CSCL and UT administrator). Parida assigned the work of clearing five lakh metric tonnes of garbage dumped at Dadumajra village in Chandigarh within a span of 18 months. . 

    Officials said the Nagpur-based firm would clear off the garbage dump in a scientific and hygienic manner. This move would ensure the residents get rid of foul smell emanating from the garbage dump as well as various underlying diseases.
