Contrary to media reports, Nagpur based businessman and BJP leader Navneet Singh Tuli is believed to have not attempted suicide. It’s an overdose of sleeping pills, said Dr Sanjay Kripalani, owner of Hitech Hospital, where Tuli is admitted and undergoing treatment.

Rumours mills set rolling after Tuli, who’s the Chairman and Director of Gurunanak Institutions, was rushed to the hospital in Sadar, a couple of hours back. When Nation Next spoke to Dr Sanjay Kripalani, he said, “It’s a false news that Navneet tried to attempt suicide. He just took an overdose of sleeping tablets, as he wasn’t able to sleep because of stress. When he told me over the phone that he had taken a couple of extra pills, I asked him to immediately get admitted in the hospital. He is completely fine now and taking rest in our hospital.”

When we asked Dr Kriplani about the attempt to suicide case that has apparently got registered in Sadar police station, he said, “I don’t know which case have they registered. I informed the police as we are supposed to update them about such cases as a routine procedure. Navneet has also given a statement to the police. I would request media to refrain from sensationalising the issue.”

When Nation Next called up Sadar police station, the police personnel on duty told us that no case has been registered against Tuli there. He also confirmed that after investigation, the police concluded that it was a case of medicine overdose only.
