NCP MLA Sangram Jagtap has been booked by the police along with 25-30 other party workers for ignoring social distancing norms while celebrating his birthday on June 12. Jagtap, who’s represents the Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar City Assembly, and party workers have been booked by city’s Kotwali Police under sections 188 and 269 of the IPC.
It is being reported that apart from violating social distancing norms, none of the persons at the celebration including MLA Jagtap, were not wearing masks. Earlier two cabinet ministers of the Maharashtra government Ashok Chavan and Jitendra Awhad were detected with coronavirus and were hospitalised. They have been discharged after recovery.
It is to be noted that Maharashtra is the worst hit state in India due to COVID-19. As of June 15, Maharashtra has more than 1,07,000 COVID-19 cases and has recorded nearly 4,000 deaths.
