In one of the boldest moves since he has taken charge as the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has announced today that from November 9, 2016 starting from midnight, Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes will cease to be legal tender and will be just paper with no value! The decision which aims at targeting the black money offenders came after a cabinet meeting today. New Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 currency notes will be circulated soon by the Reserve Bank of India though these will have limited circulation.
