Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari recently during a party meet at Pimpri- Chinchwad was of the view that the BJP changes criminals for good. While speaking to a leading daily, Gadkari said, “BJP always faces criticism for admitting criminals into the party. If criminals enter the party, we lessen their faults and increase their merits.” Gadkari even pointed out at one of the members of the BJP party from Nagpur was earlier a robber. He said, “He was a robber and now helps women reach home safely late at night!”

Speaking about the rising membership of the BJP and the declining graph of the Congress and the NCP, he added, “The BJP’s vote share will increase only when the vote share of the Congress and the NCP comes down. Competent people will always rise in the party.”

Blaming the Congress and the NCP for farmer’s suicides, Gadkari mentioned that the agricultural growth during the previous government’s tenure was negative. He accused the Congress and the NCP of creating “dead assets” by creating dams without canals. As per PTI, he said, “By constructing these dams, they created dead assets worth Rs 80,000 crore, which didn’t benefit farmers. So, the Congress and the NCP should answer as to why farmers did not get water from these dams.”

Gadkari also urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to implement necessary steps to ensure the agricultural growth surpasses 20%. He was of the view that farmer’s suicide would only stop if there’s at least 50% irrigation in Maharashtra.
