Union Minister Nitin Gadkari claimed that he’d appeal airlines and hotels to replace refined sugar with honey sachets or honey cubes as sweeteners for tea and coffee. Gadkari said the same while speaking at the Central Bee Research and Training Institute (CBRTI) on Monday. Gadkari said, “Usually one spoon of honey is equivalent to three spoons of sugar. As of now, airlines provide sachets of refined sugar sachets to passengers. There’ll soon be a choice between sugar and honey.”

Gadkari said he’d speak to concerned officials of Air India, SpiceJet, GoAir as well as Khadi Gramudyog Commission chairman to ensure both options are available onboard. During the event, the Union Minister also spoke about strengthening the rural economy through the usage of milk, honey, bamboo, blue economy, ethanol or biofuels, etc.
