An estimated 40,000 people, braving the scorching heat, were present at Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari’s 60th birthday bash held at Kasturchand Park, Nagpur. Apart from Gadkari’s family and many Nagpurians, several bigwigs who attended the do included were Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis along with his wife Amruta, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chhatisgarh CM Raman Singh, Former Chief Ministers of Maharashtra Narayan Rane and Sushilkumar Shinde, Governor of Assam Banwarilal Purohit, Minister of Rural Development, Women and Child Welfare Pankaja Munde, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, Former MP Vijay Darda, Minister for Energy, New and Renewable Energy Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Nagpur Mayor Nandatai Jichkar, Patanjali founder Acharya Balkrishna, among many others.
Nitin Gadkari, while addressing the massive gathering, shared his life story, which revolved around his political career and personal life. Speaking about Rs 1.01 crore presented to him by BJP MPs and MLA, to be donated to 100 charitable institutions, Gadkari said that he would add his own money as well to donate the amount for social causes. Gadkari even inaugurated his biography ‘Sansad mein Nitin Gadkari.’
Earlier during the day, Gadkari unveiled his wax statue at his residence in Mahal. The statue would now be a part of wax museum at Lonavala.
