NMC declares Poonam Mall unsafe; issues notice to demolish damaged parts of mall within 24 hours

    Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) declared Poonam Mall to be unsafe for people and hence it has ordered the owner to demolish the same within 24 hours.

    After a part of N Kumar owned Poonam Mall collapsed on Friday night leaving one dead and four injured, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) declared the mall to be unsafe for people and hence it has ordered owner to demolish the same within 24 hours.

    NMC today morning inspected the mall situated at Wardhaman Nagar area through a drone and came to a conclusion that some areas have been damaged due to construction work.

    According to Assistant Commissioner at Lakadganj Police Station Vijay Humne, 3571.10 sq mt area of the RCC structure of third and fourth floor has been damaged, because of which the first, second, third and fourth floor’s area including a theatre of 7142 sq mt area has also got damaged.

    NMC under Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act 264 issued a notice to the Managing Director of the company – Indo Pacific Software and Entertainment Limited – Vijay Kumar Harchandani instructing him to demolish the damaged parts of the mall within 24 hours. The NMC has also clearly stated that if the demolition doesn’t take place, the NMC would demolish the same and procure the fees from the company.
