Ruling party leader of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Sandip Joshi proposed to develop a 9 acres parking lot on Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) land near Rahate Colony T-point in Dhantoli, Nagpur. Joshi, on Thursday, requested the chairman of standing committee Virendra (Vicky) Kukreja to make a provision of Rs 5 crores for the same.
Joshi, while speaking on the NMC budget in the general body, said that PDKV would provide space for parking of around 800 four-wheelers and 1,800 two-wheelers. He also said that PKV had given a condition that it would provide 9 out of 18 acres of land provided no construction is done on the same. The House unanimously welcomed Joshi’s move on the same.
Kukreja on Thursday presented a budget of Rs 2,946 crores, which was passed by NMC House sans any modifications. However, Leader of Opposition Tanaji Wanve was quick to call the budget ‘biased,’ ‘anti poor’ and ‘unrealistic.’
Accusing Kukreja of ignoring suggestions of corporators and standing committee members, Wanve told Nation Next, “Many members of the standing committee said that their inputs for the budget weren’t taken into consideration by Kukreja. Had he taken their suggestions, we’d have a better budget. I feel the budget is anyway senseless.”
