NMC and Green Vigil Foundation appeal citizens to save energy

NMC and Green Vigil Foundation, on the occasion of Buddha Pournima, jointly organised a public awareness campaign at Vidhan Bhawan Square, Civil Lines, Nagpur.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Green Vigil Foundation, on Monday on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, jointly organised a public awareness campaign at Vidhan Bhawan Square, Nagpur. During the campaign, the volunteers of the Green Vigil Foundation appealed the citizens to save electricity and minimize energy consumption.

Present during the day-long drive were MLC Anil Sole, NMC’s Assistant Engineer (Electricity) Ajay Mankar, team leader of Green Vigil Foundation Surabhi Jaiswal, Kaustabh Chatterjee, Kalyani Vaidya, Vishnudev Yavad, Dadarao Mohod, Abhay Paunikar, Sarang More, Saurabh Ambade, Amit Palia among others.

Along with the volunteers, Sole too explained the importance of saving energy to the citizens.  Speaking about the drive, Sole explained that energy saving is the need of the hour and for the last few years, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has implemented this energy saving initiative with the help of Green Vigil Foundation. He also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mentioned this innovative initiative in ‘Mann Ki Baat.’

Chatterjee from Green Vigil Foundation speaking about the initiative said, “This initiative is being implemented for the last few years under the guidance of MLC Anil Sole. With the help of traders and citizens, it has been possible to save a lot of energy so far. The involvement of the citizens in this drive is increasing day by day, and the people are understanding the importance of energy saving and doing their bit for the same.”
