→ Nagpurians will have to now separate their dry and wet garbage as Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will collect only separated garbage from June 1. While NMC will start implementing this scheme from June 1, the central government will be implementing this scheme from World Environment Day, which is on June 5.
→ The separate bins for dry and wet waste will be provided by NMC at a cost of Rs 14 crore. While green colored bins will be provided for disposing wet waste like egg shells, vegetable, etc., blue color bins will be provided for disposing dry waste like paper, food packets, etc.
→ Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal and Nagpur Mayor Nanda Jichkar have also roped in several city NGOs for spreading the awareness about garbage separation. Some of these NGOs include Rotary Club of Nagpur, Green Vigil, Centre for Sustainable Development, Dhantoli Nagrik Mandal, I Clean Nagpur etc.
