NMC starts campaign to clean rivers in Nagpur, appeals citizens to join in

In what could be termed as a welcome move by citizens, NMC (Nagpur Municipal Corporation), from today, started a campaign to clean the rivers in the city.

In what could be termed as a welcome move by citizens, NMC (Nagpur Municipal Corporation), from today, started a campaign to clean the rivers in the city. The campaign, which is being supported by various business organizations, self-help groups, administration and citizens, kick started today at 8 am at Nag River near KDK College in Nandanvan. Along with Nag River, the campaign was also launched at Sonegaon for Pora River and for Pili Nadi at Automobile Square, Kamptee Road. The campaign will go on till June 20.

Present during the start of the campaign were MLC Anil Sole, MLAs Sudhakar Kohale, Krishna Khopde, Sudhakar Deshmukh, Vikas Kumbhare, and Dr Milind Mane, MLC Girish Vyas, Nagpur Mayor Nanda Jichkar, Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, Standing Committee Chairman Virender Kukreja, Ruling party leader Sandeep Joshi, NMC Commissioner Virender Singh, BSP leader Mohammed Jamal, NCP leader Duneshwar Pethe, Shiv Sena leader Kishore Kumeria, among other corporators and NMC officials.

The corporation has appealed the citizens to join the campaign in large numbers.
