Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik announced that the COVID-19 lockdown would be extended in the state till April 30. Patnaik announced the same on Thursday after a meeting with the state cabinet. Odisha became the first state to announce the lockdown extension even before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s videoconference with state chief ministers regarding the same.
As a result, train and air services would also remain shut till April 30. Moreover, schools and educational institutions would remain closed till June 17. Odisha has reported 42 confirmed COVID-19 cases so far with one death due to the same.
