Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javdekar announced the re-run of Ramanand Sagar’s classic television serial Ramayana from March 28 on DD National channel. The show will air twice a day at one at 9 am and other at 9 pm. Javdekar took to his twitter handle to write, “Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting re-telecast of ‘Ramayana’ from tomorrow, Saturday March 28 in DD National, One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm.”

The decision came after several netizens demanded the re-telecast of the two iconic shows – Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana and BR Chopra’s Mahabharat – to relive their childhood memories and to also remain engaged and entertained during the nationwide lockdown to combat Coronavirus.

The serial starred Arun Govil as Lord Ram and Deepika Chikalia as Goddess Sita with Arvind Trivedi playing Raavan and Dara Singh essaying the role of Lord Hanuman. The serial originally aired in 1987 and since then has been re-run. Apart from this, people are also requesting to re-telecast other popular old TV shows to relive their old days. The public has also made demands to re-run popular show Shaktimaan.
