One of the most powerful AIADMK leaders in Chennai, MLA J Anbazhagan (61) died of COVID-19 on Wednesday morning at 8:55 am. The MLA, who was suffering from acute respiratory distress, was put on ventilator support on June 3 when his breathing trouble worsened. His condition deteriorated on Monday evening, according to doctors at Dr Rela Institute & Medical Centre – Multispecialty Hospital. The MLA had tested positive of COVID-19 at the time of admission in the hospital.

The doctors said, “His oxygen requirement has gone up once again and his cardiac function also is deteriorating requiring medicine support for blood pressure. His existing chronic kidney disease is also worsening. His condition currently is described as critical.” It has been said the leader got infected while participating in MK Stalin’s events to provide relief material to people stranded in lockdown.
