Pakistan decided to invite former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh instead of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for the inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor. In a video message, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced the same. Political experts are of the opinion that this decision by Pakistan would be seen as hostility towards Modi and not India.

Qureshi said that a formal invitation would also be extended to Manmohan Singh for the same. Quresh said that Singh has the religious faith and is highly respected in Pakistan. He further said, “Pakistan has decided that the inauguration function of Kartarpur is a huge program. So, we will invite Manmohan Singh to the inauguration as he represents the Sikh community. He is very important to us.”

However, it has been reported that the former PM is likely to decline the invitation.
